BallooningNews.com was originally acquired on March 16, 2000, by our company to assist the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta® (hereinafter referred to as AIBF or Balloon Fiesta) in disseminating ballooning news for sponsors, organizations, and balloon teams participating in the annual festival. It was our company founder Barbara Tomlin – Official Diva who was chosen to produce the first official website for the event in 1994. She served as the online media director for six years, concluding those responsibilities in 2002. After Westward Connection’s official work for the Balloon Fiesta concluded that year, we held onto this domain and several related ballooning domains because of the passion Barbara shares for the preservation of ballooning history and her desire to see the sport of ballooning continue for centuries to come.
